CHILDER THORNTON PRIMARY SCHOOL

PROSPECTUS

We are proud of our school, the quality and commitment of our teaching, our links with the community and our home-school relationships.
The school in New School Lane was opened in June 1913. It consists of 4 classrooms and a hall with a 'mobile' classroom and Dining Room/Kitchen in the yard.
There is ample playground plus large grassed areas, garden and playing field, all surrounded by open countryside, but only just off the  A41 trunk road and two miles from the centre of Ellesmere Port.
We cater for Infant and Junior aged children in a co-educational school.
We are very proud of our building and the environment created for our children. A garden has been designed and constructed by the children with LEA help. The front of the school is well endowed with large mature trees and shrubs. The character and ethos is of a friendly village school where everyone knows each other.

            OUR STATEMENT

First and foremost children should be happy in school and this is what we endeavour to achieve, by providing a happy learning environment in which children can learn.
Children, we believe, learn best from situations in which they are actively involved, and which grow from their interests and enthusiasm, and from stimuli provided by their teachers.
We do not believe that this can happen without the full support and involvement of the child's parents.

AIMS:
We should help children to develop enquiring minds and teach them how to learn and gain knowledge.
All our children must be catered for and their needs seen to, so that they can realise their full potential.
Their education should be broad, balanced and relevant, with all aspects of their development being encouraged and stimulated.
The school should provide not only for children's intellectual development, but also for their social, emotional, physical and aesthetic growth.

It must be remembered that a school curriculum is the sum total of all the experiences a child has while attending our school.
